UTMBridge 26 is the latest edition of the prestigious Bridge Model Competition organized by the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).
23 April 2026
Pre-registration is open to all interested teams. This step allows participants to register their intent to join UTMBridge 2026. However, pre-registration does not guarantee participation in the competition.
All pre-registered teams are required to submit a design proposal in accordance with the competition guidelines. The proposal must demonstrate the design concept, structural system, and feasibility of the bridge model.

Video Description
The School Category of UTMBridge 26 is designed to introduce secondary school students to fundamental engineering concepts through hands-on, creative learning. This category focuses on problem-solving, teamwork, and basic structural understanding in an engaging and supportive environment.
For this category, participants will be provided with surprise construction materials on the competition day. Teams are required to design and construct their bridge models using only the materials supplied by the organizer. This approach encourages creativity, adaptability, and quick thinking, while ensuring a fair and level playing field for all participants.
The bridge design concept for the School Category is based on the Da Vinci Bridge, a self-supporting structure inspired by the innovative ideas of Leonardo da Vinci. The concept emphasizes interlocking elements, structural stability without fasteners, and an intuitive understanding of load transfer and equilibrium.
Through this challenge, students will gain early exposure to engineering principles such as structural behavior, balance, and efficiency, while experiencing the excitement of real-world problem solving. The School Category aims to inspire young minds and cultivate interest in Civil Engineering and the built environment.
